Mages, Subcategories and You. Empty Mages, Subcategories and You.

"The Old Archmage sat idle atop the hillside, surveying the ensuing battle below. Letting out a vicious cough before he began to speak an incantation. His voice boomed across the field as all could hear him continue his tangent of ancient words erupting from his mouth. Soon the smell of brimstone filled the air around him, a vibrant orange light erupting from his palms as the flames engulfed them, sparks embers and smoke spewing out in unison as they became more and more hectic with the time passing while he incanted. The Old Archmage raised his hands to the sky as the flames jumped off his hand, congregating in a dense ball above. The Ball then began it's chaotic descent to the battle below, the sheer heat and power of it could be felt by the combatants. This truly was a feat to fear to them, a single man bringing the power to end the fight."

Students gifted with a keen intellect and unwavering discipline may walk the path of the Mage. The arcane magic available to magi is both great and dangerous, and thus is revealed only to the most devoted practitioners. To avoid interference with their spellcasting, magi wear only cloth armor, but arcane shields and enchantments give them additional protection.

The Mage is the most common of Arcanists in all of Sevilidan and is generally used as a blanket term for Arcanic Spellcaster. A wide variety of Spellcasting subcategories exist within Sevilidan, and they all focus on different studies of the arcanic arts.

    Mage

A mage is generally used as a term for someone who dabbles in all (legal) arts of magic. Not having any true specialization, this is the best path to climb the ranks of the Magi Guild for it shows you are adaptable as well as showing you can handle being tasked with many different studies.

    Spellblade

A spellblade is generally a Mage Mercenary, clad in either leather or plate armor and dawning a sword rather than a staff they use hand magics to better handle the situations of the battle field to suit their needs.

    Warmage

Warmages are highly trained and powerful Mages that are normally of high ranks in the Magi Guild, or even self taught Mages who have stayed unnoticed in the eyes of the Magi's Guild. They accompany Soldiers into battle and stay in the back of the field of war to cast devastating spells to give their team a winning edge.

    Illusionist

Illusionists are Mages who mainly focus on the school of illusions, creating false sounds and images in the minds of others, temporarily changing the appearance of things and many more spells.

These are only some minor subcategories in the realm of the Arcanes.

    Forbidden Magics

    Warlock

"In the face of demonic power, most heroes see death. Warlocks see only opportunity. Dominance is their aim, and they have found a path to it in the dark arts. These voracious spellcasters summon demonic minions to fight beside them."

At first, they command only the service of Imps, but as a warlock’s knowledge grows, seductive Succubi, loyal Voidwalkers, and horrific Felhunters join the dark sorcerer’s ranks to wreak havoc on anyone who stands in their master’s way. Warlocks are truly a force not to be messed with once they have become experts in their path. They can be either masters of demons, or spread affliction and pain with disastrous spells that spread like the plague. Another thing they are known for is destructive fire and felfire spells.

    Necromancer

Practitioners of unspeakable magic, macabre manipulators of life and death: necromancers. Arcane mysteries are the mysteries of life and death. Death, in the form of necromantic magic, acts as a counterbalance to Life. It is an unavoidable force that breeds despair in mortal hearts and pushes everything toward a state of entropic decay and eventual oblivion. It is said that the only way to ensure the saving of another is the sacrifice of life. Sacrificial magic was considered the greatest violation of life and the energies of Life, known commonly as nature magic, promote growth and renewal in all things. However, energies can be so chaotic that they manifest as entropic horrors, pure fel magic given form to lash out at all life.
